Lecture 1 in my Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories series from May 16th at Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto. In this lecture, I describe what I consider to be the idea of God, which is at least partly the notion of sovereignty and power, divorced from any concrete sovereign or particular, individual person of power. I also suggest that God, as Father, is something akin to the spirit or pattern inherent in the human hierarchy of authority, which is based in turn on the dominance hierarchies characterizing animals.

Dr. Peterson,
You discuss the dichotomy between order and chaos and use Genesis to explain that the battle between the two has been ongoing since the beginning of time. While this resonates tremendously with me and has aided in my life greatly there is something I do not understand.
When discussing this with followers of the bible they push back on the notion that God created (order) from chaos. The idea suggests chaos is equal to God or potentially greater. I am unable to formulate an argument that satisfies their resistance. My goal is not to argue or convince in this context but to explain the significance of the idea. Do you see God as part of the eternal battle himself, building order from chaos or is the idea that nothing, or chaos, is the inevitable? The ultimate goal is balance, as you say to have one foot concretely placed in habitable order and the other in the unknown possibility that is chaos?
Your work, podcasts, books and lectures have been of instrumental importance to me and my family. Words can not express the gratitude we have for your ability to convey these ideas and all the while through some of the most arduous points of your life.
Truly, from the depths of my being, thank you!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holliday season, along with health and happiness.
Dr. Peterson,
Thank you for sharing your search for meaning with the world. I have listened to many of your lectures.
You are courageous and compassionate.
My heart goes out to you for a complete recovery from your health trauma. The world needs you.
Respectfully,
Hey Mr. Peterson. Don’t start attacking Catholicism when you obviously have not done any in depth research on it.

I found a whole load of treasures …… :)
Professor Peterson, I am a someone who doesn’t subscribe to religion, but I must say your voice with regard to PC inculturation needs to be raised to a higher level. Your positions that I was made aware of via Joe Rogan, have only further served to broaden my own widening opinion on PC enforcement, and I applaud you for being a voice of reason in a sea of lost masses that don’t seem to recognize the predator in their mist. Please continue to be a voice of reason and thank you for being a sound mind in a time of turmoil.
